<h1>Digital.ai DevOps Platform on the AWS Cloud</h1>
<h3>Release orchestration and deployment automation for scalable continuous delivery pipelines</h3>
<p>The Digital.ai DevOps Platform orchestrates releases by defining and automating the steps in your software delivery pipeline. It directly connects Amazon Web Services (AWS) to the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline and to common development tools, such as Jenkins, Atlassian Jira, and JFrog Artifactory. Based on your infrastructure and application configurations, the platform dynamically generates provisioning and deployment plans for AWS Cloud, private cloud, and hybrid cloud environments.</p>
<p>Digital.ai creates efficient, repeatable, scalable release and deployment processes for various technologies, from mainframes and middleware to containers and microservices. Digital.ai also supports deployments to many AWS products and services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS), Amazon Elastic Container Service for Kubernetes (Amazon EKS), AWS Fargate, and AWS Service Catalog.</p>
<p>This Quick Start was developed by Digital.ai in collaboration with AWS. Digital.ai is an AWS Partner.</p>
<p>The Quick Start sets up the following:</p>
<p><ul>
<li>A highly available architecture that spans two Availability Zones.*</li>
<li>A virtual private cloud (VPC) configured with public and private subnets, according to AWS best practices, to provide you with your own virtual network on AWS.*</li>
<li>An internet gateway to allow access to the internet. This gateway is used by the bastion hosts to send and receive traffic.*</li>
<li>In the public subnets, managed NAT gateways to allow outbound internet access for resources in the private subnets.*</li>
<li>In the public subnets, a Linux bastion host in an Auto Scaling group to allow inbound Secure Shell (SSH) access to Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances in public and private subnets.*</li>
<li>In the private application subnets, an Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) cluster running on EC2 instances for hosting the Digital.ai DevOps Platform containers that hold the Digital.ai Release and Digital.ai Deploy modules.</li>
<li>In the ECS cluster, a Digital.ai Release module set up in full cluster mode.</li>
<li>In the ECS cluster, a Digital.ai Deploy module set up in high-availability (hot-standby) mode.</li>
<li>In the private data subnets, an Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL cluster, for hosting the Digital.ai DevOps Platform data.</li>
<li>An Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS) volume, for hosting the disk-based configuration and data for the Digital.ai DevOps Platform.</li>
<li>An Application Load Balancer for routing incoming user requests to the Digital.ai DevOps Platform containers. <br /></li>

<p>* The template that deploys the Quick Start into an existing VPC skips the tasks marked by asterisks and prompts you for your existing VPC configuration.</p>

<p>To deploy the Digital.ai DevOps Platform on AWS, follow the instructions in the deployment guide. The deployment process, which takes about 40 minutes, includes these steps: <br /></p>
<p><ol>
<li>If you don't already have an AWS account, sign up at https://aws.amazon.com, and sign in to your account.</li>
<li>Use one of the following license options: <br /><ul>
<li>Obtain a trial license from Digital.ai (formerly XebiaLabs).</li>
<li>Purchase a commercial license from Digital.ai (formerly XebiaLabs), and then download the license.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Launch the Quick Start. You can choose from the following two options: <ul>
<li><b>Deploy into a new VPC</b><br /></li>
<li><b>Deploy into an existing VPC</b><br /></li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Test the deployment.</li>
</ol>
</p>
<p>Amazon may share user-deployment information with the AWS Partner that collaborated with AWS on the Quick Start. <br /></p>
<p>You are responsible for the cost of the AWS services used while running this Quick Start reference deployment. There is no additional cost for using the Quick Start.</p>
<p>The AWS CloudFormation template for this Quick Start includes configuration parameters that you can customize. Some of these parameters, such as instance type, will affect the cost of deployment. For cost estimates, see the pricing pages for each AWS service you will be using. Prices are subject to change.</p>
<blockquote><p><b>Tip:</b> After you deploy the Quick Start, we recommend that you enable the AWS Cost and Usage Report to track costs associated with the Quick Start. This report delivers billing metrics to an Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) bucket in your account.
