Pungalina sanctuary exhibition in San Diego. On April 16, 1993, the exhibit opened at its current location along State Highway 30, near San Diego City Hall.
On October 1, 1997, the exhibit closed down after 18 years in operation. Due to the many visits, the exhibit was eventually dismantled in 2005. On July 28, 2007, the exhibit was repurposed to a food trucks show. It is now on display in a large area around the museum, and includes a large section dedicated to "The Real World of Pungalina."
The site was recently donated to the California Department of Parks and Wildlife, which plans to rehabilitate and reestablish the site as the Pungalina Wildlife Sanctuary on October 12, 2017, in an attempt to preserve and protect the natural flora and fauna that once lived and walked on it. Pungalina is a mushroom that is produced from pungency found in the leaves of a certain species of fungus. In modern times, it's associated with smoking, drinking, and enjoying in general.The first record of this mushroom is in China, where the term is considered a sacred species of medicine by many Chinese. After centuries of widespread cultivation, the fungus became so widely used in China that certain people started to develop pungency based on the fungus. In China, pungency is usually described as an intense, pungent odor that can be mistaken for tobacco smoke.
In the United States, it became readily available in 1858 during the era of opium traffic and was introduced in large numbers to California by European traders who knew that the plants were lucrative to grow for medicinal purposes. In 1859, there were over 300 plants produced in California, and by 1880, there were 738 plants produced in the state.
While the exact origin of the word "pungent," given as a derivative of the Chinese word meaning "violet" or "bright," is unclear, the first recorded use of pungency was in the 1869, when the California Farmer's Almanac listed that it was an odor that was "scented as by burning wood." In the following decades, pungency was used as a label for many different botanical ingredients (pimenton & pungent; as in Chinese medicine "pungents" as the chemical compounds that form the pungent compound). For example, in the 1940s, the newspaper Daily Press published "pungent, as a term applied to citrus fruit, being the odor derived from the pulp that is dropped down over the fruit during the drying process," which was also used as a term for pepper and onion.

Mr Cook added that he hoped his new round-robin football league, which could be played in 2018, could also have an impact on the game in the country.
"It's going to be the next generation of footballers, and it's very much going to develop a competitive spirit," he said.
"We have a pretty strong culture here and I think we have got a lot of positives on our table.
"You just need to get it right with the coaching staff - with some of the things I am doing with that squad now.
"One of the things I am going to be putting on this team is the importance of winning the international game.
"And the success of the game in Northern Ireland, it's not a given because they are a very poor team in the International World Cup - but I am putting that on my CV - the fact we are the underdogs in this tournament.
"As soon as you win the game, you'll start to attract more talented young players and people in particular who are looking for that edge in their career."
